HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Adair Crane Atkinson passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Aug. 13, 2017, at age 88.

She was born in Fort Smith, Ark., to Balfour Dorset Crane and Ruth McKinney Crane. She attended Fort Smith High School. Following graduation, she attended Randolph-Macon College for one year and subsequently, the University of Arkansas, where she met her husband, Joe Frank Atkinson.

They were married in June of 1949 at which time they lived in Fayetteville. After Joe graduated, they moved to Shreveport, La., where they lived for 40 years. Their years there were filled with children, church and community activities. They enjoyed the time they stayed on their house boat on Lake Ouachita. Family visits are still fond memories of their children and grandchildren.

In 1992, they retired to Hot Springs Village, Ark. Adair was a Life Master Duplicate Bridge player, active in her sorority, Pi Beta Phi, both as a collegiate and an alumna, active in her church, Kirk in the Pines. She was a proud member of the DAR. She and Joe loved to travel and visited numerous countries over the years.

Adair will be remembered for her spunky spirit, her love of her family and friends, and her lifelong love of all things to do with cats. She was happiest when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit her. She loved taking her grandchildren on outings around Hot Springs. She loved being on the water and outside enjoying God’s creation.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe Atkinson, and her parents, Dorset and Ruth Crane.

She is survived by her children, Martha D’Anna, Jeff Atkinson (Fran) and Ruth Lee (Mike); her grandchildren, Lisa Smith (John), Chris D’Anna (Jessica), Trey Atkinson, Drew Paul, Kristin Stuart, Lauren Dean (Colin) and Becca Paul; her great-grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Lindsey Smith, Haley Smith, Olivia D’Anna, Jillian D’Anna, Will Stuart, Ben Stuart and Ruby Dean. She is survived by her dear cousin, Carolyn Starr. She is also survived by her stepgrandson, Michael Lee (Maria), and stepgreat-grandchildren, Peyton Lee and Harrison Lee.
