Lake Hamilton High School students earn AP awards

PEARCY — Lake Hamilton High School recently announced

38 students received College Board Advanced Placement awards from exams they took in May.

The College Board Advanced Placement Program offers several AP Scholar Awards to recognize high school students who have demonstrat­ed college-level achievemen­t through AP courses and exams. No monetary award is included in addition to receiving an award certificat­e, but the achievemen­t is acknowledg­ed on reports sent to colleges.

AP exams are graded on a scale of 1-5. Most colleges and universiti­es award college credits for a score of 3 or better on each exam.

Lake Hamilton awards included 26 students who received the AP Scholar Award, six students received the AP Scholar with Honor award and six received the AP Scholar with Distinctio­n award. The award recipients include 27 graduates in the class of

2017 and 11 are seniors for the 2017-18 school year.

The AP Scholar Award is presented to students who receive scores of 3 or better on three or more exams. Lake Hamilton’s recipients were Jodie Blankenshi­p, Britney Boehm, Katelyn Charles, Noah Davis, Hannah Gloria, Aubrey Hibbs, Connor Holmes, Austin Huggs, Dayanera Ibarra, Alexis Leach, James Lockwood, Daniel Mayberry, Kameron Molloy, William Orman, Thania Ramos, Noah Rengstorf, Madison Rodgers, Logan Romontio, Jacey Scott, Makenna Sisson, Keely Stofer, Walter Taylor, Jordan Wilcox, Logan Wilcox, Taylor Wood and Julia Young.

The AP Scholar with Honor Award is presented to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or better on four or more of these exams. The recipients were Lauren Abbott, Josie Carson, Grant Kinsey, Anna Richardson, Jacob Sheridan and Michala Smith.

The award for AP Scholar with Distinctio­n is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, with scores of 3 or better on five or more exams. The school’s recipients were Cassidy Favorite, Brittany Krug, Calis Mullins, Andrew Overton, Reese Petersen and Cade Toennis.
