Woman arrested for battery
A Hot Springs woman was arrested on a battery charge after she reportedly tackled her companion and held her face to the ground while intoxicated.
Keri Makenzi Manning, 23, who lists a 411 Big Sky Way address, was taken into custody at her home at around
1:45 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor battery, punishable by up to one year in jail.
Manning remained in custody in lieu of a zero bond Monday and is set to appear in Garland
County District Court on Sept. 11.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a deputy who was dispatched to
411 Big Sky Way in reference to a disturbance in progress was told by a witness that the suspect had fled into the woods and the victim had left the scene.
The victim, who had fled the scene to a location on Highway 7 north, said that her companion, later identified as Manning, reportedly came home intoxicated and became verbally aggressive.
She alleged the fight became physical and that Manning threw her to the ground. She said that she was able to get away and run outside, but Manning tackled her.
She said Manning struck her in the back of the head and held her down on the ground, and at one point she was reportedly unable to breathe.
The deputy observed no bruising on the victim, but felt a bump on the back of her head and observed scratches on her knee and elbows consistent with falling to the ground.
The deputy returned to 411
Big Sky Way and reportedly found Manning sitting in the driveway. He noted a strong smell of intoxicants coming from Manning, who had bloodshot eyes.
Manning was placed into custody, and transported to the Garland County Detention Center. Once in the jail, Manning reportedly registered 0.180 blood alcohol during a breath test.
