The Local Show Music Menagerie announces lineup

-

This month’s Local Show Music Menagerie will feature music by Ten Penny Gypsy, John Talley, Chana and Randy Caylor, and poetry and music by Heather Bennett.

The show is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Life Center Arts, 315 Park Ave. Tickets are $10 cash at the door. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase with cash only.

“Every month I’m so amazed and grateful for the wonderful opportunity to see such amazingly talented people perform and watch the audience enjoy a live variety show of all local folks. This month is very special as we are also a CD release show, so come on out and enjoy a great night of fun,” Chana Caylor said in a news release.

Laura Lynn Danley and Justin Patterson make up the alt-country Americana duo Ten Penny Gypsy. Danley and Patterson marched to the beat of their own drums for years as solo artists before a chance encounter at a songwriter showcase in Arkansas changed their direction.

Music by Ten Penny Gypsy will be released on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and in retail stores this summer.

Talley returns this month to the Local Show stage with a tribute to Nobel Peace Prize winner Bob Dylan. A resident of Mount Ida, he has performed in Hot Springs for years and is a regular at the Front Porch Stage.

A past featured artist at Wednesday Night Poetry, Bennett draws the creative inspirations for her writings from family history, parenting, folk tales, wilderness, and “things that go bump in the night.” She is compiling a short book of poetry and essays for parents of children with Down syndrome, a subject that has colored her family’s life in unexpected and beautiful ways, the release said.

Highlights for next month’s show on Sept. 30 include musical guests Jacob Flores and Rena Wren, fiddle player Chris Ryland, dancer Gianna St. Grace, a surprise comedian and other surprises.
