Walter A. Schultz

Walter A. Schultz, 89, of Hot Springs, passed peacefully in his home on Aug. 25, 2017.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1928, in Chicago, to the late John and Agnes Schultz.

Walter was an incredibly friendly person and had a certain charm about him. A true outdoorsman, he absolutely loved to camp, fish and hunt; all after a cup of coffee, of course.

He worked for over 30 years at Deluxe Check Printers; so if you’ve ever received a paycheck, he was on the other end, making sure it happened. He also dedicated much of his time to the Boy Scouts, where he served as a scout leader. This was something he loved and was passionate about.

Meeting Walter in Heaven are his parents; brother, Joseph Schultz; and his grandson, whom he treasured, Andrew Mayes.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Helen; his children, Jack Schultz (Candice), Andrew Schultz (Sandra), Mary Ellen Mayes (Harold), Lisa Hammons (Chad); siblings, Jerome Schultz (Evelyn), Teresa Ciochon (Thaddeus); four grandchildren, Walter Schultz (Angela), Regina Schultz, Alex Mayes, Stephanie Mayes; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Schultz, Joseph Mayes; and many other extended family members and friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service.
