Hot Springs Jazz Fest to provide singular evening of classical, jazz

-

The Arkansas Brass Quintet and the ATM (Anything That Moves) jazz combo will come together in a singular evening of classical and jazz music on Sept. 1 during the Classical & Jazz Blow Out at the 26th Hot Springs Jazz Fest, Aug.

31 through Sept. 4.

New York City saxophonist and flutist, Allen Won, and Hot Springs’ own mezzo-soprano Diane Kesling will perform. Jazz vocalist Shirley Chauvin will emcee the evening and perhaps sing a song or two. Each individual will perform music of their own choosing in their musical style, either jazz or classical. The evening’s highlight will be when Arkansas Brass and ATM join together to create a blowout of both classical and jazz together, a news release said.

The concert will be presented in the intimate night club style of the Five Star Dinner Theatre,

701 Central Ave., and an optional dinner will be served. The program is sponsored by the Morris Foundation and Dorothy Morris. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.

Jazz Society member tickets are $45 for dinner and show or $30 for show only. Nonmember tickets are $50 for dinner and show or $35 for show only.
