Lady Co­bras win LadyCat Clas­sic vol­ley­ball ti­tle in Mena

MENA — Foun­tain Lake’s vol­ley­ball team went un­de­feated in Satur­day’s LadyCat Clas­sic at Mena High School.

In pool play, the Lady Co­bras de­feated Lake Hamil­ton (25-23, 2520), Booneville (25-21, 26-24), Mans­field (25-20, 25-17) and Jessieville

(25-13, 25-13), earn­ing the team a first round bye in bracket play.

Foun­tain Lake downed Lake Hamil­ton 25-20, 26-24 in the semi­fi­nals. Olivia Cox had 10 kills, Erin Graves nine digs and Lyn­d­sey Blees two aces off eight serves with five kills for the Lady Co­bras.

Cox led with 12 kills in the 25-20,

25-21 fi­nal against Lake­side. El­iz­a­beth Bairett had eight serves and four kills and Molly Bres­hears six digs for the Lady Co­bras.

Foun­tain Lake (5-0, 1-0) is home against Malvern on Thurs­day.

Prescott golfer posts 68 in prep tour­ney

GLEN­WOOD — Cen­ter­point’s Kay­dra Fox edged Lake Hamil­ton’s Jor­dyn Thacker by one stroke for medal­ist hon­ors in a high school golf tour­na­ment Mon­day at Glen­wood Coun­try Club.

Fox had a 104 with team­mate Keasha Owens third over­all at 119. Jaci Palmer (125) fol­lowed Thacker in Lake Hamil­ton’s scor­ing.

Led by medal­ist Hank Crain’s 68, Prescott (253) downed Cen­ter­point (309) for boys’ team hon­ors. Tyler Doucet added an 84 and Carter Neal a 101 for the Cur­ley Wolves. Gabe Doster had a 94, Owen Bright a 104 and Michael Bright a 111 for Cen­ter­point. Lake Hamil­ton en­tered two golfers, Caleb Dodd with a 79 and Jor­dan John­son with an 86.

pus Me­mo­rial golf tour­na­ment, ben­e­fit­ing Lu­pus Foun­da­tion of Arkansas Inc., is Satur­day, Sept. 9 at Di­a­mond­head Coun­try Club. Reg­is­tra­tion be­gins at noon and tee time is 1 p.m.

The four-per­son scram­ble of­fers di­vi­sions for males, fe­males and mixed teams. En­try fee is $60 for a Di­a­mond­head mem­ber not us­ing a golf cart and $70 for all oth­ers. A din­ner fol­lows the round with tick­ets $13 per guest.
