Sybil Alexander

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Sybil Alexander, of Brooklyn, N.Y., formerly of Hot Springs, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2017.

Dorothy J. Balliet

Dorothy J. Balliet, 80, of Hot Springs, passed away Aug. 30, 2017.

She was born Sept. 24, 1936, to the late Roy and Edna Spencley in Emmett County, Mich.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Robert Balliet.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Balliet; one son, Bill Balliet; three daughters, Shelley Balliet, Linda Balliet and Jean Faskey; 11 grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Oak Grove Cemetery with Brother Michael Smith officiatin­g.

Myrna G. Crain

Myrna Gross Crain, age 80, of Hot Springs, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at Garland Health and Rehabilita­tion.

She was born in Willow, Ark., on July 26, 1937, to the late Frank Gross and Ila Mae Atkinson Gross. Reared and educated in Carthage, Ark., she had been a resident of Hot Springs for 40 years. She was a caregiver and one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include her son, Herman Wayne Scott, of Hot Springs; two sisters, Laura Harder, of Jonesboro, Ark., and Elizabeth Smith, of Malvern; two grandchild­ren, Jonathan Allen Scott and Lori Leann Stoddard; and by four great-grandchild­ren.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Christine Rowell, and a brother, Dale Alan Gross.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, in the Cypress Cemetery at Willow, Ark., under the direction of J.A. Funk Funeral Home of Malvern.

Mary E.B. Dees

NEWHOPE — Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Brewer Dees, 55, of Newhope, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2017.

She was born March 21, 1962, in Waldron, the daughter of Lonnie Calton Brewer and Mary Helen Stovall Brewer. She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Raymond Dees, of Newhope; daughter, Ashley (Daniel) Dees-Buck, of Amity; grandchild­ren, Isaac and Delany; mother, Mary Brewer; brother, Stanley (Tina) Brewer; nephew, Tyler (Calle) Brewer; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Sonny (Susan) Dees, Jack (Adela) Dees and Frank Dees.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Mount Joy Free Will Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary A.W. Frazier

MALVERN — Mary Adeline Wilson Frazier, 79, of Malvern, was granted her angel wings on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017.

Born Oct. 19, 1937, to Leon and Minnie (Hill) Wilson in Alpine, Ark. She worked at the Arkansas Human Developmen­t Center in Arkadelphi­a as a resident assistant.

Survivors are daughters, Sabrina Packard (Toby), Marcia Stockwell (Robert); brothers, Bob Wilson, Russell Wilson (Ann), Gerald Wilson (Barbara); sister, Janice Bryan, Brenda Montgomery (Ron); eight grandchild­ren, 14 great-grandchild­ren, numerous nieces and nephews, grandpups that she loved, Ollie and Baby Packard.

Visitation 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at Regency.

Carolyn Garrett

BONNERDALE — Carolyn Garrett, 91, of Bonnerdale, died Aug. 30, 2017.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

A celebratio­n of life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Pentecosta­l Church with the Revs. Jerry Garrett and Wilbert Bates officiatin­g.

Burial will be in Mazarn Chapel Cemetery, Bonnerdale.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearer­s.

Honorary pallbearer­s are her Hospice caretakers.

Wayn Ledbetter

A memorial service for Wayn Ledbetter, 48, of Hot Springs, who died Aug. 28, 2017, will be at 6:30 p.m. today at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Burial will be Saturday in Calvary Cemetery.

Helen S. Reed

ROCKPORT — Helen Strawn Reed, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017.

She was born May 1, 1931, in Arkansas County. She was predecease­d by her parents, Mary Haglar Strawn and George Strawn; four brothers, Leslie Strawn, Hays Strawn, Joe (Alex) Strawn and Wilbur (Buck) Strawn; two sisters, Audrey Cox and Mary Louton; and one grandson, Robert Everright.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George M. Reed, of Rockport; her daughter, Shirley Everright and her husband Ken, of Hot Springs; one son, Ronald (Steve) Reed and his wife Jean Ann, of Sheridan; four grandchild­ren, Leslie Huna, of Minnesota, Phillip Reed, of Sheridan, Jenna Havlik, of Perry, and Emily Hawkins, of Hot Springs. She is also survived by nine great-grandchild­ren who provided great joy to her and a host of extended family and friends.

She was a well-known Malvern area beautician for over 50 years and operated Helen’s Beauty Shop for much of that time.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 1, at First Assembly of God in Malvern with Brother James Bobo and Helen’s nephew, Brother Mike Louton, officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s are K.C. Reed, Gary Griggs, Nathan Hawkins, Phillip Reed, Daniel Havlik and Wayne Smith.

Honorary pallbearer­s are Brother Paul Dorey and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Kindred Hospice.

Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Church’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, Malvern, Ark.

Ronald M. Reid

Ronald Mathew Reid was born June 10, 1946, in Exeter, Tulare County, Calif., the son of Aubra Reid and Geraldine Adams Reid. Ronny departed this earth on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at the age of 71.

Ronny was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War; a plumber by trade, working for Worley Plumbing, and he attended Freewill Baptist Church. He was predecease­d by his parents; his wife, Barbara Mettz Reid; a daughter, Shannon Reid; a son, Rodney Reid; and one brother, Benjamin Breitenber­g.

Survivors include his stepmother, Kathryn Reid McCaig, of Duncan, Okla.; his stepfather, Ernest Breitenber­g, of Hot Springs; one daughter, Janet Reid Badilla of North Carolina; one brother, Thomas F. (Marcy) Reid, of North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Greenawalt of West Union, W.Va.; his aunt, Betty Adams, of Hot Springs; his grandchild­ren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Cunningham Cemetery.

Ruth E. Robbins

Ruth E. Robbins, 93, of Hot Springs, passed away Aug. 29,

2017.

She was one of six children born in Avant to the late Arnold and Savannah Murders Pate.

Ruth enjoyed fishing, was a gifted quilter and was the member of several clubs, including the Eastern Star SocietySpa Chapter 5805 and the Garland County Historical Society.

Welcoming Ruth home will be her husband, Dennie, and siblings, Emerson Pate, Emory Pate and Ruby Noles.

Ruth will be dearly missed by her sons, Robert “Bobby” (Brinda) and Roger (Linda) Robbins; grandchild­ren, Shauna (Pete) Brown, Doug Robbins and Greg (Carina) Robbins; five great-grandchild­ren, Amy (Anthony) Styx, Ashley Brown, Katelyn Robbins (Jacob) Childers, Dalton Robbins and Bentley Robbins; sisters, Gladys Noles, Vera (Jimmy) Scott and Jewel Stogsdill; many nieces and nephews.

A visitation at Gross Funeral Home will begin at 1 p.m. today with a service starting at

2 p.m. Burial at Buckville Cemetery will take place at 4 p.m.
