Brewer, Bardwell help junior Wolves pound Troy

Lake Hamilton Junior High scored two third-quarter touchdowns and downed Hot Springs 36-20 Thursday night at Reese Memorial Stadium.

J.T. Bardwell passed 31 yards to Braden Frederick, breaking a 20-all tie, and Carlos Brewer ran 26 yards for his third touchdown of the game.

Hot Springs forced three ties on touchdown runs of 23,

18 and 2 yards by Don Harris, whose two-point conversion with eight seconds left in the first half made it 20-20.

Brewer ran 52 and 47 yards for Lake Hamilton’s first two touchdowns. Westyn Dobyns’

43-yard scoring run and Bardwell’s two-point conversion made it 20-12.

Brewer carried five times for 184 yards, Dobyns with seven carries for 69 yards. Izaiah Clenney had eight tackles, Hunter Miller six and Chase Jessup three stops and a forced fumble for the Wolves.

Lake Hamilton’s eighthgrad­e team downed Hot Springs 22-6.

The Wolves play Cabot South at home next week.

Mountain Pine-J’ville

JESSIEVILL­E — Andrew Graves rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns as Jessievill­e rolled past Mountain Pine 36-0 at Phillips Field.

Graves scored from six yards out in the first quarter, and it was 14-0 after Charlie Davis’ 60-yard punt return. Davis ran five yards for a second-quarter touchdown, makint it 22-0 at halftime, and Graves and Matthew Huff each had a second-half TD.

Jessievill­e’s Carson Herron completed three passes for 94 yards, Jordan Greene with two catches for 67 yards. Jace Chacon led Mountain Pine with 45 yards rushing on nine attempts.

* Brenteen Johnson had rushing touchdowns of 19 and 36 yards to give Jessievill­e’s seventh-grade team a 16-0 win over the Red Devils.

F, Lake-Pottsville

POTTSVILLE — Fountain Lake’s strong second-half run fell short in a 40-30 loss to Pottsville at Needham Field.

Owen Barthel’s 33-yard touchdown run pulled the visiting Cobras within 8-6. Fountain Lake trailed 40-6 before Colton Wright ran 47 yards for a touchdown and added a two-point conversion. It was 40-22 after Landin Kizer’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Fisher and Wright’s twopoint conversion. Wright scored from seven yards out and Kizer passed to Robert Linnear for the conversion that set the final margin.

High school volleyball Malvern-F. Lake

FOUNTAIN LAKE — Behind 21 service points from senior Elizabeth Bairett, the Lady Cobras improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference with a 25-23, 25-10, 25-21 win over visiting Malvern Thursday night at Bass Gymnasium.

Fountain Lake had 37 team kills, led by Olivia Cox with 12 and Emoree Martin with seven. The Lady Cobras travel to Ashdown for a conference match Tuesday night.

Fountain Lake won two other matches, Patience Campbell with 11 points for the ninthgrade girls (25-11, 25-10) and Haley Evans with eight for the junior varsity (25-20, 25-18).

Texarkana-LH

PEARCY — Lake Hamilton got widespread contributi­ons in a 25-15, 25-17, 25-17 Wolf Arena victory over Texarkana.

Jessalyn Heckel tallied five points with seven digs and three kills while Jenny Peake added eight points with two aces, five kills and two solo blocks.

Hope Adams finished with six points, two aces and three kills for the Lady Wolves and Mason Aitken added five points with seven digs and one ace. Lake Hamilton (6-4 overall, 2-0 conference) plays Hot Springs at home Tuesday night.

* Lake Hamilton’s junior varsity (2-0 conference) won 25-7, 25-20. Kennedy Campbell racked up three points, two aces and two kills while Hayzley Irwin finished with three kills and Anna Styers with two kills.
