Dunn crowned Miss Arkansas Collegiate America 2018
Darby Dunn, of Hot Springs, was crowned Miss Arkansas Collegiate America 2018 on Aug. 5 at UCA Reynolds Center in Conway.
Dunn will represent the Natural State at the national Miss Collegiate America Pageant in June 2018 in Little Rock.
Dunn is pursuing her education as a senior at Lake Hamilton High School and will graduate in May 2018. She hopes to further her education, but is undecided on which university at this time.
Dunn is active in the community, serving as student council vice president. Her other activities include tennis, cheer and track. She volunteers at Jackson House, has been in the Leadership Hot Springs and Sweetheart programs, and is a co-founder of the Live Like Bryce Foundation, which promotes good character and acts of kindness.
Aimee Brown, director of the state pageant, said in a news release, “I am quite pleased with the young ladies the judges chose to represent Arkansas in June. Throughout the weekend the young ladies exhibited poise, charm and intelligence, everything this pageant stands for. I truly believe each of them have a chance to win the national title and the $10,000 scholarship prize.”
The delegates were scored in three categories: an individual interview with judges, 40 percent, evening gown, 40 percent, and fun fashion, 20 percent.
The Miss Arkansas Collegiate America Pageant is an official preliminary to the national Miss Collegiate America Pageant and is under the direction of Amanda Patterson.
