AARP Tax-Aide seeks volunteers
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking for “compassionate, friendly people” to join its team of local volunteers for the upcoming tax season.
Tax-Aide is a free program that makes it easier for older, low-income taxpayers to file their tax returns and get the credits and deductions they’ve earned. Volunteers help prepare tax returns or serve in other ways, like organizing client paperwork, managing computer equipment, acting as interpreters or making sure everything runs smoothly. There’s a role for everyone.
Sign up at http://aarpfoundation.org/taxaide. Or alternatively, volunteers can call Bill Davidson at 760-3192 in Hot Springs, or Irene Sandhaus at 830-265-7916 in Hot Springs Village for further information about how they can join the local AARP Tax-Aide team.
AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service, is seeking volunteers to assist in tax return preparation.
Some experience in preparing tax returns on a computer is desirable. Volunteers will receive free tax training leading to certification, and will be reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program-related expenses. Training will begin in October.
Applicants must be willing to volunteer a minimum of four hours per week counseling and preparing tax returns at one of the sites between Feb. 1 and April 16, 2018.
