Mavis “Midge” Jaunice Troyer, 81, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 7, 2017.

She was born in Mountain Pine to the late Jewel and Alice Smith.

Mavis graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1954. She then obtained a degree from Delta State College in Cleveland, Miss., and went on to receive her master’s from the University of Washington.

Mavis spent her life enriching the lives of others as a school teacher and her teaching took her many new places in life. She taught in Mississipp­i, several places in Alaska and then retired in Hot Springs, where she taught Sunday school classes. Mavis’ faith was important to her, as was her church family at River of Life Church of God.

Meeting Mavis in Heaven are her sister, Winona Colbert; brother-in-law, Jack Colbert; sister-in-law, Ivonia Smith; brother-in-law, Phillip Arguello; and great-niece, Alexis Arguello.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Irvin Troyer; son, Larry Troyer (Shelly); granddaugh­ters, Leslie and Hannah Troyer; brother, Dwight Smith; sisters, Joyce Arguello and Naomi Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. today at the River of Life Church with a celebratio­n of Mavis’ life to immediatel­y follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Lance Arguello officiatin­g. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s will be Kade Arguello, Eddie Livingston, Blake Livingston, Daniel Garcia, Robert Arguello and Terry Smith.

Honorary pallbearer­s include Ray and Ann Hood, Cody Livingston, Clarence Mason, Carl and Phyllis Cranford, Darren Arbour and Judy Garcia.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n.
