Woman charged with drug possession
A Hot Springs woman was arrested on felony drug charges early Thursday morning after reports that a narcotics transaction was taking place in a parking lot.
Jeannette Elizabeth Ayers,
27, who lists a Tradewinds Place address, was taken into custody around 12:40 a.m. Thursday and charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, possession of cocaine with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 10 years, and possession of a Schedule IV substance with purpose to deliver, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.
She was being held on $8,500 bond and is set to appear Sept. 18 in Garland County District Court.
According to the affidavit, at around 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Garland County sheriff’s Deputy Justin Parker was notified that a suspicious vehicle was making a narcotics transaction in the parking lot of the basketball courts in the Fairwood subdivision. When Parker approached the courts, he observed a Scion leaving the area.
Parker made a traffic stop near 3019 Albert Pike Road. The driver identified herself as Ayers, but failed to provide formal identification. Parker noted Ayers’ front seat passenger appeared to have marijuana debris all over his lap. He ordered Ayers out of the vehicle, and she allegedly told him she had other illicit items inside her purse.
Parker found 5.7 grams of marijuana, 1 gram of meth and 2.5 grams of cocaine within her purse.
