3 in Horner

Hall at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

The Garland County Leadership Prayer Breakfast Committee said in a news release that it overwhelmingly selected Chapmond to be this year’s speaker immediately following the 2016 Prayer Breakfast.

“It’s not just ‘local man does well,’ it’s a committed citizen who loves his community and does what he’s called to do, giving God the glory,” the release said.

“And the committee felt strongly that we need to pray for all of the first responders who serve our county, so who better than Chris Chapmond?

He comes from a family of builders — private home contractors. Maybe that early education in building things is part of what drives him to want to mentor and help build young people into success stories,” it said.

Chapmond became a Marine after his 1989 graduation from Lake Hamilton High School, turning 18 years old while in boot camp. After a tour during the first Gulf War, he returned to Hot Springs to work with his father building homes.

Tickets are available by calling Gary Welch at 624-5788. The tickets are $20 and the breakfast begins promptly at 6:20 a.m.

“This committee is dedicated to bringing everyone in the county together to pray for those in authority in our community, state and country. First responders serve vital roles for all of us, and deserve our prayers,” the release said.

Music will be provided by Judy McEarl and the Teen Challenge Singers, and by Sonya Chittum.
