Williamson Boat Docks Inc.; building quality boat docks for 55 years

-

Williamson Boat Docks Inc. has been in business since 1962.

The company is in its 55th year of building quality built docks. The boat dock business was founded by Earl and Dona Williamson and is still currently family owned and operated by Buzzy and Sherri Williamson.

Earl and Dona have passed on, but there is still a picture of them hanging on the office wall. We never want to forget the hard work and dedication they put into this business, to make certain the success perpetuated for decades in the future. Earl’s favorite quote was “The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a bargain is forgotten.”

Buzzy has been in this business since he was 3 years old. He is asked many times to contribute to engineering dock projects. There is no one that knows more about boat docks and the area lakes. I believe the greatest compliment is when my customers remind us to put our “Built by Williamson Boat Dock” signage on their dock.

Sherri has been in this business for over 30 years. She enjoys helping the customers design their docks and seeing the finished product created by their skilled craftsmen. Most of them have been with us for over 20 years. We consider them to be family not just employees.

We still offer steel floating docks along with custom hand built stationary boat docks. We have a state-of-the-art pile-driving system. All types of boat lifts are available depending on what kind of dock you have. Our first priority is to stay local and take care of our local customers, but we do projects out of town when we have time. We don’t want to put our local customers second, as they have helped us still be here 55 years later.

Our most recent big job was for the city of Lake Village: two fishing piers. It was ready in time for their July Fourth celebration. There were people waiting in line when it was completed excited to go fishing!

The world is changing and so is the dock industry. It is so important for the consumer to know a few things before hiring a contractor. In the state of Arkansas it is the law that any job that is $2,000 or more including materials must have a contractor’s license. You should require a certificate of insurance for liability and workers’ compensation, and you should look very closely at the fine print.

Another important question to ask is, is this job going to be done by all employees from the company or is part of it subbed out. If subbed out, what part? They should also provide you with license number and proof of insurance.

Buzzy states, “If there is one piece of advice I could give to potential dock customers, it would be to hire a qualified boat dock contractor. The reason being is, because structures built on land are much different than structures built on the water.”

We believe we have the best customers on Earth. We become friends to most and it’s so great when they stop by to just say hi. We are now servicing some of their children and grandchildren’s docks. We hope history shows we are truly sincere in our desire to have happy customers and create the best-quality product possible.

Many aren’t aware we are the oldest boat dock company in the state of Arkansas. We are very proud of this and are very thankful for all of our current customers and looking forward to meeting all of our new future customers. We hope you will choose us as your next boat dock contractor or for your boat lift needs. Thanks Hot Springs for 55 years and counting.

“Buy docks.”
