Andrew H. Abbott

Andrew Hudson Abbott, age 39, of Hot Springs, went to see his Holy Father and his beloved wife, Violet Dawn Abbott, on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017.

He was born on June 7, 1978, in Hot Springs, the son of Andy Ray Abbott and Linda Caldwell.

Andrew is survived by his daughter, Macey; his father, Andy Abbott (Donna); his mother, Linda Hughes (Neal); his sister, Sheena Smith; his brother, Waide Hughes; three stepsister­s, Sheri Luenemann, Brandi Rothert, Amanda Ward; his aunts and uncles, Liz McCoy (Mack), Jean Singleton, Zella Hennon, William Abbott (Dixie), Pam Stevens, Tena Arnold, Cheryl Volpert (Joseph), Linda Hamilton (Mark); numerous cousins and people that loved him.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Davis Smith Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs, with Brother Teddy Hill Jr. officiatin­g.

Inurnment will be at Avant Cemetery.

Freddy R. Bradshaw

Freddy Ray Bradshaw, age 63, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017.

He was born Aug. 7, 1954, in Hot Springs, the son of the late Carl Newton Bradshaw and Irene Geneva Quast Bradshaw.

He was a retired heating and air technician.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Yarbrough Bradshaw; two daughters, Charity Lynn Bradshaw and Amanda Rae Baiza and her husband, Jeffrey; one son, Chance Randall Bradshaw, all of Hot Springs; seven grandchild­ren; two stepbrothe­rs, Rick Smith, of Amity, and Randy Smith, of Kirby; and two stepsister­s, Theresa Ross, of Hot Springs, and Carolyn Howell, of Amity.

Services are 3 p.m. Thursday in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Glenwood, with interment in Alpine Cemetery.

Brenda E. Bray

MALVERN — Brenda Elaine Bray, 69, Malvern, passed Sept. 24, 2017.

She was born March 8, 1948, to the late George Houston Bray and Floy Gean (Johnson) Bray. A graduate of Malvern High School Class of 1966. She worked at Ross Family Dentistry as a dental hygienist, and was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Survivors are aunts, Charlene Griggs, of Hope Mills, N.C., and Joan Anne Johnson, of Charlottes­ville, Va.; cousins, Paul Bray, Steve Davis, Sybil Stiles; longtime friends, JoAnne Connelly and Shirley Blair.

Visitation is 1:30-2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, and services to follow at 2 p.m. with Brother Bruce Bennett officiatin­g. Burial at Oakridge Cemetery.

Horace R. Clark

The memorial service for Horace Russell Clark, 81, of Hot Springs, who died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, in Hot Springs, with Brother Teddy Frye officiatin­g.

K. LeAnne Daniel-Myrick

GLENWOOD — The service for K. LeAnne Daniel-Myrick, 58, of Glenwood, who died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Glenwood First Baptist Church with Brother Erby Burgess officiatin­g.

Interment will be in Prairie Bayou Cemetery, Bismarck

Henderson Hinson

Henderson “Pete” Hinson, 89, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away Sept. 26, 2017.

He was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Blocker, Ark., to Jim and Flossie (Hester) Hinson. Pete was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved life and lived it to its fullest.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat Hinson; brother, Roy Hinson; and sisters, Helen Roller and Betty Casey.

Survivors include brother, Lindon W. Hinson (Martha), of Benton; sister, Ella Mae Blackmon (Gib), of Jessievill­e; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Caruth Village Funeral Home chapel with a celebratio­n of Pete’s life immediatel­y following at 11 a.m. with Brother Larry McNeely officiatin­g.

Burial will follow at Bolin Cemetery, in Paron.

Pallbearer­s include Virgil Ellison, Daren McNeely, Bill Brannon, Alex Hinson, Carroll Flynn and Jerry Flynn.

Edna Johnson

MALVERN — Edna Johnson, 87, of Malvern, passed Sept. 23, 2017.

Born Oct. 7, 1929, in Farmervill­e, La., to the late Henry and Rosie (Jennings) Silmon.

Survivors are her daughter, Chris Standridge; stepdaught­er, Florence Vining (Larry); grandchild­ren, Roger Dale Standridge Jr., Renae Kennerly (Rod), Dean Brown, Rodney Brown (Ginger), Shane Brown (Nikki), Adam Holdman (Danielle), Casey Holdman (Jennifer), Brandy Holdman; 12 great-grandchild­ren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at Regency Funeral Home.

Graveside service is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, in Forest Hills Cemetery, Alexander, Ark., with Brother Shaun Holland officiatin­g.

Betty J.L. Kilby

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Betty Jean Lambert Kilby, 88, of Memphis, Tenn., died Sept. 25, 2017.

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home chapel.

A celebratio­n of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Lynn Baxter officiatin­g.

Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s will be Gary Kilby, Bart Garey, Will Garey, Kyle Kilby, Tom Walthousen and Joel Lawrence.

Melvin Mitchell

Melvin Mitchell, 96, of Hot Springs, passed away Sept. 22,

2017.

He was born on March 19,

1921, in Paris, Texas, to the late Leon and Evelyn Mitchell.

Melvin was an Army veteran serving during World War II. He was an active member of Roanoke Baptist Church for over 65 years, worked for the Arlington Hotel as a masseur for 55 years, and was a very talented singer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Melvin Dewitt Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife, Hattie Mitchell; and sons, Demond Newburn and Gerrin Alexander.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Services will be held at noon Friday at Roanoke Baptist Church with burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Park, with Pastor Leon R. Massey officiatin­g.

Sharon J. Smith

Sharon Jean Smith, age 62, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1955, in Tyronza, the daughter of William Bonn and Betty Jean Darby Bonn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenny Roach; and her grandson, Sean Ellis.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Nicole and Kelley Barham, of Glenwood, Amanda and Jason Ryburn, of Lonsdale, and Brandy and Steve Ellis, of Hot Springs; 14 grandchild­ren; one brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Linda Bonn, of Royal; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shelia Bonn, of Florida, Sandy and Paul George, of Pearcy, Glenda Estell, Debra and Roger Bonn and Chery Bonn, all of Hot Springs; nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs, with Brother Randy Roach officiatin­g.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jason Ryburn.

Geneva Stewart

ROYAL — Geneva Stewart,

87, of Royal, passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017.

She was born Sept. 29,

1929, in Buckville, Ark., to the late Youman and Minnie Adams Caldwell.

Geneva was a self-employed hairdresse­r, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter N0. 585 and was of the Baptist faith. She was predecease­d by her parents and one daughter, Geraldine Sanders.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (Pete) Kimery, of Royal; two brothers, Roy Dean (Joyce) Caldwell, of Mount Ida, and Kenneth Caldwell, of Hot Springs; one sister, Jean (Harold) Bratton, of Hot Springs; four grandchild­ren and eight great-grandchild­ren.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at First Baptist Church of Royal with Brother George Lynch officiatin­g.

R. Paul Tucker

Richard Paul Tucker, M.D., died on Sept. 21, 2017, in Hot Springs, Ark., at the age of 82.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Tucker; his brother, Thomas Tucker; his children: Bethany Tucker, Rebecca Tucker, Michael Tucker, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Allen Tucker, of Hot Springs; and eight grandchild­ren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Tucker.

Dr. Tucker was born in Winfield, Kan., to Robert and Theresa Allen Tucker. He spent his formative years in Tulsa, Okla. He was an Annapolis graduate and served honorably in the Navy. He graduated valedictor­ian from Oklahoma Medical School and completed his residency at the University of Michigan in neurology. After moving to Hot Springs, Dr. Tucker practiced neurology for over 30 years.

Paul, as he was known to friends and family, traveled extensivel­y, visiting almost every continent. He loved writing and performing poetry and singing; he was active in the Poet’s Loft. He was a generous person who loved supporting the local Hot Springs arts community.

A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date in South Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made as donations to The Caring Place of Hot Springs.
