Betty Ann Nicholas, 78, of Hot Springs, went home to be with our Lord Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017.

She was born in Memphis, Tenn., on Dec. 31, 1938, to Ruby and Paul McFarland. Throughout her life, she lived in San Manuel, Ariz.; Marianna, Ark.; and Hot Springs. A member of Cedar Glades Baptist Church, she doted on her children, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

She had one older brother, Porter, born in 1932, and a half brother, Thomas, born in 1953. Her survivors include four children, Joni Gilmore, Paula Haddock, Donna Nicholas and Joe Nicholas. She had 11 grandchild­ren and 11 great-grandchild­ren. Numerous cousins and their children extended her family.

She earned her Registered Nursing degree from Philips County Community College and spent the majority of her life caring for others. The United States Air Force presented her with a Certificat­e of Appreciati­on for her support of her daughter Lt. Col. Donna Nicholas and her volunteer work at each place where they were stationed. She continued her volunteer work at Levi Towers where she resided with many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at Cedar Glades Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, for all who loved her with visitation beforehand. The burial will be at Kilgore Cemetery in Jessievill­e.
