Southern Nazarene extends Reddies’ home woes, 42-24

ARKADELPHI­A — Southern Nazarene kept Henderson State winless at home this season with a 42-24 victory Saturday on Hall of Honor Day at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium.

The Bethany, Okla., visitors totaled almost 250 yards in the second half, taking dvantage of a pair of Henderson intercep-

tions for two fourth-quarter touchdowns. The Crimson Storm is 3-2 and the Reddies are 2-3, though Henderson’s NCAA Division II record 28game road winning streak is intact going into Saturday’s 1 p.m. game at Oklahoma Baptist.

Southern Nazarene led 14-0 after Reese Carlson’s 2-yard touchdown run, capping a

9-play drive, and Sam Hunter’s

60-yard intercepti­on return. The Reddies made it 14-all, Andrew Black keeping from five yards out and Lassiter passing

15 yards to John Murray for scores.

Southern Nazarene scored third-quarter touchdowns on drives of 75 and 81 yards, Jacob Spady with TD passes of 14 yards to Devan Brady and 26 yards to Reid Roelofs. Henderson twice got within four points, Black following a 37yard pass to Austin Bennett with a seven-yard quarterbac­k keeper that made it 28-24.

Henderson lost despite a

461-342 yardage lead, Lassiter passing for 276 yards and Cecil Langston running for a career-high 71.

Sheldon Watson had a team-high 11 tackles for Henderson, also collecting his fourth intercepti­on of the year.
