Union MBC celebrates its 133rd anniversary
Union Missionary Baptist Church, 219 Gulpha St., will celebrate its 133rd church anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday with

First Baptist Rockport Baptist Church family. Music will be provided by both choirs. The public is welcome.
Biblical poetry readings offered to churches
John Crawford, professor emeritus of HSU, announces his new poetry book, “Female
Voices from the
Bible.” The book of free verse and rhymed poetry presents women of ancient times who, through dedication, loyalty, intelligence and perseverance, demonstrate qualities of nobility and often demonstrate their ability to achieve what a man could not.
Crawford offers church groups a free 30-45 minute reading of selections, accompanied by a gospel song to match the character. This could be a morning, afternoon or
evening presentation for a mission group or the entire congregation.
Crawford has served in musical church capacities since the age of 10 in his hometown of Ashdown, Arkadelphia and Hot Springs, and during his teaching days in Jefferson, Iowa. He serves as organist, pianist and soloist at Gurdon United Methodist Church. For information, call 501-802-0315 or email docshakespeare@gmail.com.
