White Hall snaps streak, rolls past Trojans on road

After three straight losses, most recently a one-point setback to Jefferson County rival Watson Chapel, White Hall got untracked Friday night at Reese Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldogs’ defense scored two touchdowns and Ollie Reddick accounted for three scores against Hot Springs. White Hall activated the Arkansas Activities Associatio­n’s mercy rule in the second half and won 47-14.

Hot Springs goes to Camden Fairview next week before its season-ending game Nov. 3 against Lakeside. The Trojans entered the White Hall game with back-to-back losses since a

49 to Magnolia last week. Jabin Gulley returned an intercepti­on 56 yards and Santavious Thomas a fumble 10 yards for White Hall touchdowns. Thomas’ return, with 10:27 before halftime, came 23 seconds after Reddick ran 32 yards for a score. White Hall ended the half

40-7 on Reddick’s 25-yard TD pass to Jabari Blackmon with

1:20 on the clock. Damien Walker ran 59 yards for a Hot Springs touchdown with 11:49 left in the half. Christian Jovel’s extra point pulled the Trojans within 20-7. Hot Springs drove in 12 plays to the White Hall 21 before stalling on its first possession.

Walker scored from two yards out with 2:08 left in the game, Jovel converting.

White Hall scored 20 points in the last 2:09 of the first quarter. Dante Buckner ran five yards and Reddick nine yards for touchdowns before Gulley’s pick-six return with 11:3 seconds on the clock.

Rod Shelby II’s 10-yard run, followed by C.J. Collins’ fifth extra point of the game, made it 47-7 with 2:19 gone in the third quarter.

HORATIO — Jessievill­e quarterbac­k Carson Hair outgained Horatio singlehand­edly as the junior Lions rolled to a

36-14 win here Thursday night. Hair completed seven of 11 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns, Charlie Davis with scoring receptions of 73,

74 and 61 yards. Hair also ran for a 17-yard touchdown in the first quarter and connected with Landon Daley for a score in the fourth.

Horatio had 189 yards, Kurt Moya and Keith Martinez each running for a touchdown. The junior Lions improved to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in conference.

18-12. Both Lakeside teams end the season Thursday at home against Camden Fairview.
