Historical Society closed Wednesday

The Garland County Historical Society, 328 Quapaw Ave., will be closed to the public on Wednesday.

Blood drives scheduled throughout coming week

Arkansas Blood Institute will conduct blood drives at the following locations and times during the week:

• Tuesday — 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Bloodmobil­e at Magnet Cove High School; 10 a.m. to

4:30 p.m., National Park College, Dierks Health Science Atrium.

• Wednesday — 10 a.m. to

4:30 p.m., National Park College, Dierks Health Science Atrium.

• Thursday — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., National Park Medical Center, Fordyce Room.

• Sunday, Oct. 29 — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bloodmobil­e at Lake Valley Community Church, 910 Shady Grove Road.

All donors will receive a Hog Wild for Arkansas T-shirt, Donor Reward Points, a free health screening, refreshmen­ts, and learn their blood type. All blood donations support the two local acute-care hospitals. Donating takes about 45 minutes, and donations can credit any patient in any hospital.

School board meetings

The Mountain Pine School Board will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the board room of the administra­tion building, 734 Blakely Dam Road. The meeting will include the annual report to the public and the approval of new board positions.

The National Park College Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the board room of the Gerald Fisher Campus Center, 101 College Drive.

Central Arkansas Developmen­t Council will distribute commoditie­s at the following locations:

Glenwood: from 8:30-11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the CADC Glenwood Senior Activity Center, 229 Betty St.

Murfreesbo­ro: from 8:30-11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the CADC Glenwood Senior Activity Center, 229 Betty St., and from 8:3011:30 a.m. and 12:30-3 p.m. at the CADC Murfreesbo­ro Senior Activity Center, 120 E. Court St., Suite A.

All customers receiving commoditie­s must present identifica­tion. To be eligible, income guidelines must be met. Income guidelines for this program are based on 130 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Based on these guidelines, a one-person household must make less than $15,678 per year to qualify for this program. For each additional family member, add $5,488.34.

Tri-Lakes MPO Policy Board meets Thursday

The Tri-Lakes Metropolit­an Planning Organizati­on Policy Board will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the West Central offices at 1000 Central Ave. The agenda includes: project status report, by-laws amendments, MTP and TIP amendments, and reports from Ar DOT on highway funding and safety performanc­e measures. The public is welcome.
