Wolves, Red Devils win on road

SHERIDAN — Lake Hamilton made quick work of winless Sheridan Friday night.

Behind three first-half touchdowns from Jacob Nichols, the Wolves raced out to a 33-7 lead before coasting to a 40-13 road win.

Nichols finished with a teamhigh 243 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 23 carries while Jack Johnson added 69 yards and one score on just three attempts.

Malik Brewer had 23 yards on seven carries and Andrew Martin chipped in with 15 yards on three rushes. Utah Aitken completed five of seven passes for 34 yards for the Wolves, Johnson with two catches for 10 yards.

Kanaan Williams paced the Wolves with 12 tackles, including two tackles for loss, while Ray Hamp and Eli Vaughn recorded one sack each.

Nichols had touchdown runs of 17, 44 and 8 yards in the first half and Johnson rumbled for a 75-yard score in the fourth quarter to set the final margin.

Lake Hamilton (4-4, 2-3) hosts Benton next week before closing the regular season Nov. 3 against visiting Greenwood.

MP-Lafayette County

STAMPS — Fay Haywood’s touchdown run in overtime lifted Mountain Pine to a 50-44 win over Lafayette County here Friday night.

Haywood paced the Red Devils with 259 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 21 carries while Elijah Browning finished with 66 yards on 14 attempts.

Mountain Pine quarterbac­k Collin Smith completed two of five pass attempts for 19 yards, adding 45 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Behind 62 rushing yards and five touchdowns from Jaylyn Anderson, Lafayette County outscored the Red Devils 22-15 in the second half to force the extra period.

Martavious Miller paced the Cougars with 111 yards on 25 carries, scoring one touchdown.

Riding a seven-game winning streak, Mountain Pine (7-1, 5-0) travels to Mount Ida next week with the 2A-7 conference championsh­ip on the line.

The defending Class 2A champion Lions improved to 8-0 with a 44-6 rout of Dierks Friday night.
