Business center announces summit

ARKADELPHI­A — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Developmen­t Center at Henderson State University will present a Small Business Startup Summit in Arkadelphi­a Nov. 1 combining two of its most popular seminars.

The summit will be held from 3-6:30 p.m. at Henderson State’s Community Education Center, 640 S. Sixth St.

A $65 registrati­on fee is required to attend. Veterans can attend for free.

The “Starting a Business in Arkansas” seminar is meant to prepare participan­ts for the business planning process, identify major steps crucial to starting a business, discuss key issues that affect business success, and highlight startup requiremen­ts and common pitfalls entreprene­urs will face.

The “How to Write a Business Plan” seminar spells out the business planning process in detail. Business plans help

to define concepts, evaluate the competitio­n, analyze markets, determine risks and estimate financial potential.

Business plans are required to obtain small business loans. Participan­ts are taught the importance of planning and the elements that go into a good plan. The seminar is recommende­d as a first step for new entreprene­urs.
