Echols is the building principal at Hot Springs World

Class High School. She has a master’s in educationa­l leadership from Harding University, bachelor’s in biology from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and specialist degree in curriculum and instructio­n from the University of Central Arkansas.

Lenox is principal of Hot Springs Junior Academy. She has a master’s in educationa­l leadership from Harding University and bachelor’s in health and physical education with a minor in English from Louisiana Tech University.

State chairman, candidates to address HSV Democratic

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — State Democratic Party Chairman Michael

John Gray and two candidates seeking the party’s nomination for the

2nd U.S. Congressio­nal District seat will address the Friday meeting of the Democratic Club of Hot

Springs Village.

The candidates are Gwen

Combs, a Little

Rock School District teach- er and political activist, and

Paul Spencer, a government and history teacher at Little

Rock Catholic

High for Boys.

The Oktoberfes­t event kicks off with a 3 p.m. social hour featuring beer, wine, brats and other refreshmen­ts. The program begins at 4 p.m. with a presentati­on by Gray, who will be followed by remarks from Combs and Spencer. All three speakers will respond to audience questions after their presentati­ons.

Gray represents District 47, which includes portions of Independen­ce, Jackson, White and Woodruff counties, in the state House of Representa­tives. Until June, he headed the House Democratic Caucus. He is an Augusta farmer who earned a bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University before completing his law degree at the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The event is open to the public.

Tickets available for Stop Animal Cruelty fundraiser

Stop Animal Cruelty will host its first Butt Scootin Boogie fundraiser from 5-9 p.m. Nov.

4 at Arc Isle Recreation­al Area on Lake Hamilton, 203 Lookout Point. Come by boat or vehicle. Live entertainm­ent will feature Still Standing. There will be a silent auction and dancing.

Tickets are $18 per adult and includes dinner, two drinks and live music; or $12 for children

12 and under, which includes dinner and two drinks. Tickets are available at the SAC Thrift Shop, 123 Albert Pike.

Melting Pot program on using DNA in genealogy

The Melting Pot Genealogic­al Society will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Melting Pot Library, 649-B Ouachita Ave. A program on using DNA in genealogy research will be presented.

The MPGS maintains a library whose collection­s include more than 9,000 publicatio­ns. Library hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Friday or by appointmen­t, 624-0229. The staff is an all-volunteer group of people interested in preserving and making available to the public the histories of families of Garland County and other areas.

In keeping with National Financial Planning month, the Computer Club will host Sherill Nicolosi at its 6:30 p.m. Thursday general meeting at the Coronado Center to talk about important financial matters on the death of an individual or loved one. She will discuss what happens to their electronic data upon death, and how to gain access to a loved one’s account, among other things. A social and help desk will be at 6 p.m.

CCMC hosts workforce workshop Friday

A Workforce Stability Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Ouachita Behavioral Health and Wellness, 125 Don’s Way.

Learn about how to stabilize the employee base, reduce company turnover, identify and develop hidden talent within an organizati­on, improve staff morale and cohesivene­ss, develop a reputation as an employer who cares, and cultivate workforce ethics.

Holiday Tea & Fashion Show tickets on sale

Hot Springs Emblem Club 194 will host its Holiday Tea & Fashion Show at noon Nov. 14 at the Elks Lodge, 132 Abbott Place. Tickets are $15 per persons, advance sales only.
