HS Tech Learning Center announces schedule

The November schedule for classes presented by Hot Springs Tech Learning Center has been confirmed.

Windows 10 Level 1, from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 1, 8, 15 and 29, is a pre-requisite to all advanced Windows courses offered. Students should have a proficienc­y of the keyboard, mouse skills and reasonable computer knowledge to register for this course. Students will learn how to navigate through Windows 10, learn use of tiles, change basic settings, use File Explorer to organize files and folders; use flash drives. The new Microsoft Edge browser will be covered (favorites, reading list, setting start pages). Email choices available in Windows 10 will be discussed (Mail, webmail, Windows Live Mail). Pre-requisite: Windows 10 Basics

The iPad Basics workshop, held from 10 a.m. to noon Nov.

6, is a basic introducti­on to the Apple iPad. The student will learn parts of the iPad, how to use gestures to control the iPad; use apps such as Camera, Clock, Maps, Mail, Safari, iTunes; how to join a WiFi network. This is a hands-on workshop and students will need to bring their own iPad.

Managing Photos will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Nov.

7 and 8. This workshop will address how to transfer pictures from a camera to the computer, how to organize the pictures into folders, and how to back up the pictures to a flash drive. This is a hands-on workshop and students will use the Windows 10 operating system.

An Introducti­on to Computers Workshop will be held from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 13 to prepare students for other computer classes. No prior knowledge is required for this workshop. Topics to be covered: turn on/ off computer; mouse usage, left and right buttons; cut/copy/ paste using WordPad; files/ folders, create, save, delete.

A Facebook workshop will be held from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 16. It will introduce the student to the basics of using Facebook to communicat­e with family and friends. Topics to be covered: setting up a Facebook account, finding friends, posting messages, uploading pictures. Students will need a Facebook account. Students who do not already have an account will set up an account at the beginning of the workshop.

One-on-One Help Sessions can be scheduled from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 28. These sessions will help on a topic that no workshop/class offers, and help a person register on a topic of their choice. They will be matched with a staff member who can provide them with one-on-one help. Bring questions to these sessions. The Android Phone workshop will be from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 30. It will cover how to use features on Android phones. Features will include accessing the internet and email, installing apps, using the camera, sending pictures from the camera, using calendar, alarm clock, how to connect to WiFi networks. Students should bring their own Android phone.
