Hot Springs Beta Sigma Phi City Council elects officers

-

Hot Springs Beta Sigma Phi City Council elected new officers for 2017-2018. They are: Wilma Bledsoe, president; Terri Pilcher, corresponding secretary; Linda Needham, treasurer; Marque Haupert, vice president; Charlotte Branch, recording secretary.

The year started in August and Bledsoe hosted a Friendship gathering of all the chapters in Hot Springs to celebrate their Beginning Day at her lake house. The Hot Springs City Council hosted the Arkansas Beta Sigma Phi Convention this year which was held at the Arlington Hotel in July. The theme of the convention was Mardi Gras and chairwoman Ashley Williams led an umbrella parade downtown.

Beta Sigma Phi Sorority started in 1931, during the Great Depression. There was a need for an organization that could bring women together and expose them to a social, cultural and educational climate that was not available in those difficult times. Most important, there was a need for friendship and support from other women. Beta Sigma Phi was created out of this need.

Beta Sigma Phi is known around the world as “The Friendship Organization.” It is dedicated to helping women fulfill their lives. Whether a person’s fulfillment lies in making new friends, helping the community or just finding time for oneself — the choice is that person’s.
