Local Show Music Menagerie announces Saturday’s show lineup

-

The last show of the year at The Local Show Music Menagerie is set for 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Life Center Arts, 315 Park Ave.

The lineup will feature music by Rick McKean, Sarah Bear and Chana and Randy Caylor, comedian Ronel Williams, and photography by Danielle Davis. Attendees may dress up in Halloween costumes.

“Fall is finally here. Pumpkins, cooler weather, boots, sweaters, campfires, fall colors, and of course, Halloween. We have had such a fantastic year of great shows and we have another fabulous show again this month, so grab a friend and come on out for the last show of 2017,” Chana Caylor said in a news release.

When McKean left the Marine Corps after experiencing two near death catastrophes, he chose a life on the road less traveled. He never sought out fame or fortune, only a bench to rest and play on, the release said. Although most of his life has been tumultuous, there have consistently been benches to sit upon.

“It’s a good thing I do what I do because simplicity is so underrated,” he said.

Since the age of 8, photographer and writer Davis has had a strong passion for music and entertainment and music has always been at the forefront in her family. This passion eventually turned into a hobby. She studied journalism at Middle Tennessee State University and landed a unique opportunity to write for national online publications.

Since relocating to Hot Springs in 2009, she has photographed many of the state’s most talented acts and performers in live music venues. She has also served on the Spa City Blues Society Board of Directors while taking the role as vice president this year.

Born in Little Rock and raised in Virginia Beach, Va., Williams began doing stand-up comedy at a talent show hosted by his place of employment two years ago. He also produces comedy shows in and around Little Rock in addition to being a spoken word poet, musician, and father of three daughters.

Bear has been playing piano since the age of 8. In addition to being a pianist, singer, and performer, she is the mother of two children. She is currently working to put together her first original album in hopes that one day she will be able to buy an insulin factory, as her son has diabetes.

“I’m just living the dream, one song at a time,” Bear said. Several years ago Chana Caylor had a vision of a live stage production that hosted local performing artists of all types, where the audience had a chance to be introduced to the local artists promoted in each show for who they are and what they offer to the community. The first Local Show was in 2015.

“This has been an amazing year and this month will be our last show of the year. Thank you to all that have been a part of this journey with us,” Chana Caylor said.
