Lambert named new Intracity Transit director

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

City Manager David Frasher on Friday announced the appointment of Kathleen Lambert as the new Hot Springs Intracity Transit director.

Lambert succeeds Richard Grandon, who retired Friday after five years of running IT operations and more than 27 years in the transportation field, the city said in a news release.

Intracity Transit, the municipal public transit system, is owned and operated by the city of Hot Springs.

IT operates three fixed routes and a paratransit service for the disabled. First Transit LLC provides contract management services for the system and employs the transit director, the release said.

Lambert will begin her new job at Intracity Transit on Monday.

Lambert is the former senior transit planner for Rock Region METRO in Central Arkansas, a system that provides nearly 3 million rides each year through bus, streetcar and paratransit services throughout Pulaski County, the release said.

“She planned and supported the implementation of the initial stages in METRO’s long-range plan Move Central Arkansas, including reshaping 13 of 26 fixed routes, negotiating placement of 50 METRO shelters and creating standard bus pad designs,” according to the release.

Lambert previously worked in the Philadelphia area for the Delaware Regional Planning Commission in the Office of Transit, Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning, where she provided services for Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority and the Philadelphia City Planning Commission.

With more 20 years’ experience in the architectural field, Lambert is also LEED certified and a registered interior designer.

Lambert, a Little Rock resident, holds a graduate degree in Community and Regional Planning from Temple University, along with two bachelor degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is an active member of the Mello Velo Cycling Club and an advocate for transit, bicycle and pedestrian issues, the release said.
