Heed senators’ words

-

Dear editor:

Recently, three brave Republican senators spoke openly about the direction of our country under Trump. They spoke from their heart, their brain and their love for the United States of America. Others speak from their wallet.

There is an old saying that if you do not know history, you are doomed to repeat it. Some other famous quotes include: “The victor will never be asked if he told the truth;” “all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these slogans until the last member of the public understands;” “If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed;” “the general run of people disregard such truths or at least they do not make them the object of any conscious knowledge;” “Humanitarism is the expression of stupidity and cowardice;” “religion, as a means of doping people, so as to exploit them afterward.” The above are quotes from Adolf Hitler!

If you cannot open your eyes, brain and heart to see Donald Trump’s playbook in the above passages, read and study, the facts are there. May God forgive and help us if we do not listen to the words of reason from those brave senators, they are patriots. Jim Pumphrey Garland County

P.S. Charles de Gaulle said, “Patriotism is when love of your own people comes first; nationalism, when hate for other than your own comes first.”
