Bob Arnold

The service for Bob “Sody” Arnold, 74, of Hot Springs, who died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, Arkadelphi­a, with Charlie Williams officiatin­g.

Burial will be in Arnold

Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearer­s will be Mike Rial, Gary Clymer, Tony Thurman, Trey Wright, Chad Griffin, Blake Batson, Mark Batson and Ross Batson.

Dale P. Cross

The service for Dale Paul Cross, 84, of Hot Springs, who died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs, with Brothers Jess Gideon and Rodney Morse officiatin­g.

Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Emory, Texas.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Nora F. Gadbury

NEWHOPE — Nora Faye Gadbury, age 81, of Newhope, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017.

She was born Jan. 10, 1936, in DeQueen, the daughter of the late Otis and Nora Alantra Moore Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wade Gadbury; and the parents who raised her, Arthur and Arizona Moore.

Survivors include her son, Mike (Teresa) Gadbury, of Newhope; two daughters, Anita Pinkerton and Sandra (Tim) Young, all of Newhope; 10 grandchild­ren; 13 great-grandchild­ren; and her sister-in-law and brotherin-law, Eula and Dave Crosley.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Glenwood, with Gerald Eaton officiatin­g.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today.

Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Fredric Eugene Gore, 87, of Hot Springs Village, died Oct. 30, 2017.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church, Hot Springs Village.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

LITTLE ROCK — Sheryl Ann Judkins, age 59, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017.

Martha Korov

CARROLLTON, Texas — Martha Korov, 92, of Carrollton, Texas, died Oct. 30, 2017.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at The Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist.

Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery.

Floyd S. Land

Floyd Stephen “Steve” Land, 77, of Hot Springs, passed away Oct. 30, 2017.

He was born March 8, 1940, in Royal, Ark., to the late Dacus and Iva Land.

Steve was a member of Airport Road Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for 30 years. He graduated from Lake Hamilton High School in 1958. In 1967, he became an electricia­n working in the industry for 50 years and later owned and operated his own business, Land Electric. He was a mentor to countless electricia­ns and in his spare time loved to fish, take pictures and play the banjo.

The most important thing to Steve was family. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfathe­r who leaves behind a lifetime full of memories and will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 51 years, Shirley Ann Land.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Love-Land; son, Tommy (Alissa) Land; daughters, Denise (Todd) Ricks, Shelly (Kevin) Wheeler and Terri (Jayme) Muniz; grandchild­ren, Michael (Brittany) Land, Justin Land (Elizabeth Smart), Amanda Ricks (Luke Rowlett), Karson Wheeler, Kynli Wheeler, Amanda Muniz, Amber Muniz and Kelsey Love; great-grandchild­ren, Zoey and Sam Land; sister, Charlotte Worley-Mabery; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and brothersan­d sisters-in-law.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at Airport Road Church of Christ with Michael Cox officiatin­g with burial to follow at Lowe Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 9 a.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearer­s include Ralph Hankins, Rick Hester, Alex Warnes, Daniel Padgett, Eddie Lamb and Glen Barber.

Honorary pallbearer­s include Jack Smith, Tommy Sorrells, Stuart Klompus, Danny Padgett, Marvin Hester, and the elders and deacons of Airport Road Church of Christ.

Steve Nolen

Steve Nolen, 66, of Hot Springs, passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017.

He was born on Oct. 19, 1951, in Hot Springs, to the late John R. Nolen Jr. and Imogene Coleman Nolen. He was a retired truck driver.

He was predecease­d by one sister, Paula Merriam.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Nolen; one daughter, Randi (Sam) Thacker; one stepson, Chuck (Heather) Terry; two brothers, Tommy Hughen and Robert Nolen; special friends, Dustin Usery and Kathy Coleman; five grandchild­ren, Robby, Alex, C.J., J.T. and Rebecca; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Hot Springs Funeral Home chapel.

Annie L. Purifoy

MALVERN — Annie Lucile Purifoy, 95, of Malvern, passed Oct. 30, 2017.

Born Oct. 2, 1922, in Manchester, Ark., to the late Leonard Garfield and Annie Belle (Lee) Huneycutt.

Survivors include sons, Jerry Allen (Sherry) Purifoy, Ronald Edward (Kathy) Purifoy; brother, Terrell Huneycutt; five grandchild­ren, Dr. Shawn (Brenda) Purifoy, Aaron Lee Purifoy, Carla (Kip) Kesterson, Jason (Allie) Purifoy, Jeffrey Scott (Buffy) Purifoy; 12 great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today, Nov. 1, 2017, at Regency Funeral Home.

RB Reno

RB Reno, age 83, of Hot Springs, died Oct. 26, 2017.

He was born on May 10, 1934, in Artesia, N.M., the son of James Earl Reno and Sadie Harris Reno. On April 5, 1966, he married Betty Cress. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gene Reno, Raymond Reno and Henry Reno; and his sister, Lavern Reno Corday.

RB was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from the California Fish and Game. He was also a member of the Lions Club. RB enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Reno, of Hot Springs; five sons and five daughters-in-law, Mark and Lori Reno, of Redding, Calif., Bruce and Karen Reno, of Red Bluff, Calif., Ray and Sherry McHenry, of Tehama, Calif., Michael and Terrie McHenry and Steven and Linda McHenry, all of Hot Springs; one daughter, Shelby Reno Trent, of Red Bluff, Calif.; and 26 grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren whom he loved very much.

Martha J. Southern

KENNETT, Mo. — Martha Jane Southern, 91, passed away at her home in Kennett, Mo., Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017.

She was born on April 6, 1926, in Kennett, Mo., to Langdon R. and Node Benson Jones, who preceded her in death, along with a daughter, Kathryn Ann Southern; Beckham, her loving husband of 70 years; two brothers, Robert H. Jones and Langdon E. Jones; and two special aunts, Mildred Benson and Mary “Mimi” Benson.

Martha Jane was a member of First Baptist Church in Kennett, where she often sang solos as a choir member in her early days. She was a regular attendee of Ladies Bible Study, led by Brother Don McGuire. In sharing her love of, and talent for, knitting, she contribute­d to the Women’s Prayer Shawl Ministry.

As a cheerleade­r and track star, Martha Jane was once quite the athlete. Golf became her favorite sport, and she was named Ladies Club Champion of Kennett Country Club in 1958.

From a very young age, Martha Jane was strongly intrigued with politics. She once worked for a U.S. senator in Washington, D.C.

Mart and Beck lived many quality years in Hot Springs, Ark. Many days were spent with family and friends at Oaklawn. Also, as avid Bridge players, they played regularly at the Bridge House of Hot Springs.

At the end, though ill, she was still thinking of others, making sure that cards would be sent for upcoming birthdays. That was Mart — one in a million, and a role model to so many.

Martha Jane is survived by three children: Byron (Linda) Southern, of Little Rock, Ark., Christi (Morris) Huffstutle­r, of Kennett, Mo., and Teri (Bart) Hanners, of Lakeland, Tenn.; five grandchild­ren: Kate “Niki” (John) Bridges, of Little Rock, Ark., Scott Southern, of Little Rock, Ark., Leah Paige (Joey) Presley, of Kennett, Mo., Kathryn (Derek) Conley, of Arlington, Tenn., and Haley Hanners, of Memphis, Tenn.; two stepgrands­ons: Chris Huffstutle­r, of Dallas, Texas, and Chase (Amanda) Huffstutle­r, of Nashville, Tenn.; as well as other family and friends.

Visitation was set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church in Kennett, with a memorial service in the church sanctuary at 3:30 p.m., followed by burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett, Mo.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Kennett.

GLENWOOD — The service for Darrell C. Waldo, 86, of Glenwood, who died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, will be 10 a.m. today in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Glenwood, with Brothers Greg McCuin and Ron Parker officiatin­g.

Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s will be Joe Beene, Jeff Leonard, Larry Abshire, Mike Carpenter, Lew Reid and Billy Plyler.

Honorary pallbearer­s are William Carter; Dr. Matthew Hulsey, Veronica Ashbrook, Ellen Moreland and all their nurses and staff; and the nurses and staff of Kindred Hospice.
