Campaign kickoff today

-

Dear editor:

The Democratic Party of Garland County will be sponsoring a Fall Fest Campaign Kick Off from 3-5 p.m. today at the Farmers Market. We will be hosting Democratic candidates from across the state announcing their campaigns. It will be a fun-filled and exciting day.

Most exciting of all, one of our own will be announcing her campaign for U.S. House of Representatives in Arkansas’ 4th District. Hayden Shamel is already known to many of us because of her role as a teacher in the Lakeside School District. If you already know Hayden, come out and cheer her on, if you have not met her yet, come and hear what she has to say — I promise you will not be disappointed.

This event is family friendly, so please bring your children. There is no admission charge and we will have free face painting, popcorn and balloon animals! Hot Springs High School’s Drum Line and Chorus will be performing. This is a great chance to show your kids that our democracy is not run by mysterious figures in Washington. It is run by us, by you and me, and all the citizens of America.

This is where it starts, in hometowns across the county, good people coming together to effect positive changes in our future.

Regardless of what your political perspective is, I urge you to come on out and have some fun with us. It will be a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and to make new ones. I hope to see you all there. For more info on the event, please call 501-624-0300 or contact us at GarlandDems@gmail.com. Lori Hutchinson Hot Springs
