Robert Wade Fleming Jr., 59, departed to his heavenly home on Nov. 7, 2017, after a valiant 30-day battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and faith in the Lord strengthen­ed him throughout his battle and ultimately gave him peace.

Pastor Tim Webb will officiate a 2 p.m. service in the Mausoleum Chapel at Waco Memorial Park, 6623 S. Interstate 35, Waco, TX 76706. Interment will follow Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Bresham, Texas.

Robert was born to the late Robert W. Fleming and Jolene Fleming on Nov. 6, 1958, in Hot Springs, Ark. He was devoted to his family, church and community. He served his nation honorably as an officer in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He also served his local community as a city council member and mayor pro-tem in Hewitt, Texas.

He was an educator at heart and had a passion for leading young adults and children. He served in his local communitie­s across Arkansas and Texas. He was a teacher and principal for 28 years in Waco, West and Brenham. He humbly dedicated the final year of his life as an elder at Champion Fellowship Church in Brenham, Texas, where he was dearly loved and supported by his church family and Celebrate Recovery Ministry.

Robert is survived by the love of his life, Martha Fleming, of 32 years; and children, Pete Fleming, of Gulf Shores, Ala., Jennifer McCollum (and husband Cody), of Copperas Cove, Texas, Victoria Monroe (and husband Michael) of League City, Texas, Calvin Green and daughter Saylor, of Tampa, Fla., and his precious grandson, Austin Fleming. He is also survived and loved by his mother, Jolene Fleming, of Hot Springs, Ark.; and his sister, Gaye Sink (life partner Ronnie Rowland); and many family members in Arkansas and Texas.
