Doris I. Williams

Doris Irene Williams, nee Johnson, went to sleep in death on Nov. 8, 2017, to await the resurrection.

She was born on Feb. 7, 1931, at Greenwood, S.C., to Lois (Snelling) and O.B. Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Williams, her parents; two brothers, Charles Johnson and Paul Johnson; her daughter, Linda Meehan; a step-daughter, Judy Grady; and a step-grandson, James Jackson Jr.

She is survived by one brother, Albert (Aida) Johnson; her son, Richard (Karen) Jackson; two stepdaughters, Linda (Mike) Haynie and Glenece Walker; two stepsons, James (Lisa) Jackson and James (Chomson) Williams; seven grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Doris moved to Arkansas in

1960 and to Hot Springs in 1988. Being a military wife and moving often, she worked at many different jobs. She has been a waitress, short-order cook, bookkeeper and office manager, the last being a convenience store manager for B & B Oil Co. At one time, she and her husband owned and operated a motel in North Little Rock and a cattle ranch in Scotland, Ark. In her younger years, she was an avid square dancer. She enjoyed being with friends and family and always looked forward to the next time.

Doris was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post

4546. She was also a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she drew close to Jesus, her Savior and to God.

Doris will be laid to rest with her husband, at the North Little Rock Veteran’s Cemetery.
