Geology club topic on HS vanadium production

Hot Springs Geology Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts, 200 Whittington Ave. The speaker will be Timothy Scott.

Scott has a B.S. in Mining Engineering from the University of Nevada Reno, Mackey School of Mines. He worked for Union Carbide/ Stratcor as president and general manager, Strategic Minerals Corp., Hot Springs.

His presentation, titled: “Vanadium Production at Evraz Stratcor’s Hot Springs, Ark., Facilities,” will center on the production of various vanadium chemicals at the local facilities, including the feeds required, the production process and various end uses of its products.
