Carl M. Rader
Carl M. Rader, 75, of Hot Springs, passed away Nov. 15,
2017
Carl was born Nov. 8, 1942, in Seattle to the late Richard C. and Ruth J. Berg Rader. Carl spent many of his childhood years in Sunnyside, Wash., on the farm of his grandparents. There he fell in love with rural life, which remained with him through adulthood.
Carl graduated from Seattle’s Roosevelt High in 1960. Somehow, he talked his folks into allowing him to join the Air Force directly after graduating. He was only 17.
A strong love of all things mechanical led him to becoming a jet engine mechanic for the Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, Carl worked as an auto mechanic in Grand Coulee, Wash., for a short while before starting his own business in Seattle, where he stayed for
25 years. Later he went to Simi Valley, Calif., for 10 years.
Passionate about golf and motorcycles, Carl relocated to Hot Springs in 1993 where he opened a business repairing motor homes. It was here he found the comfort and peace of rural living which he had first loved as a boy and had longed for most of his life. Carl imme- diately felt like he was home. He spoke of his love of Hot Springs and all the wonderful friends he had found and loved.
Carl is survived by his sisters, Karen (Ric) Stahl, of Kenmore, Wash., and Julie Lonnie) DeHart, of Bremerton, Wash.; former spouses and lifelong friends, Jean Ann Moebius and Roxanne Rader; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
Carl made dear friends wherever he went and to list them would be too long — but you know who you are and that he held you close to his heart. Special thanks to the Huddlestons and the Rays (Carl’s Arkansas Family) for all the care and support.
Any memorials or donations in his memory should be made to organizations which support our veterans.

Paul Tanner
Paul “Redbeard” Tanner, 51, of Hot Springs, passed away Nov. 15, 2017.
Redbeard was easy to love. He was a teacher and mentor of the Living Canvas Family. Redbeard’s passion for his craft was so influential; everybody knows Redbeard’s Famous Living Canvas as well as all the fantastic tattoo artists he trained.
Redbeard poured passion into everything he did. Some years ago he was “saved” and fell so in love with the teachings of Jesus, he became ordained and started his own church. His congregation was impressive. Redbeard even performed baptisms in the little swimming hole on his property.
Redbeard was a well known photographer, an astronomer, an outdoorsman, marksman, blueberry farmer, race car driver (of remote control cars), airplane pilot (of remote control planes), toy collector, comic book collector, dog rescuer, art enthusiast, body piercer, party starter, party thrower, llama farmer, donkey keeper, musician, arcade proprietor, jukebox aficionado, NASCAR fan, antiques dealer, a trail blazer, but most importantly, he was a husband to Angi, the father of Andie, and the grandfather of Ollie, whom he loved dearly.
Redbeard was always determined in his research to be expert in everything he did. His passion was infectious, his influence undeniable.
A celebration of Redbeard’s life will be announced by his family at a later date.
