Carl David Herrell, 80, of Hot Springs, passed away Nov. 17, 2017.

Memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bismarck Pentecosta­l Church with Reverend Van Glidwell officiatin­g.

Martha Highsmith

Martha Highsmith, age 83, of Malvern, died Sunday Nov. 19, 2017. She was born in Sheridan on Nov. 15, 1934; the daughter of Wilton and Zora Faye Arnold Steele.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Edward Highsmith and grandson, Michael Wagnon;

Survivors sons, Bill Highsmith (Sherry) of Prattsvill­e, Thomas W. (Buddy) Highsmith (Martha) of Haskell; daughter, Vivian Highsmith (Bill Wagnon), of Magnet Cove; sister, Vivian Steele, of Magnet Cove; grandchild­ren, Martie Ryland, of Magnet Cove and Kyleigh Lindsey, of Traskwood; great-grandchild­ren Sawyer Lindsey and Glyn Ryland.

There will not be a formal visitation.

Graveside 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan.

Shannon R. Ritter, age 64, of Hot Springs, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2017.

She was born Dec. 10, 1952, in Hot Springs, the daughter of Claburn Thomas and Louise Parker Thomas Pennington. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, LaJuan Loveday; one brother-in-law, Steve Norton, Sr.; and her grandparen­ts.

She was Baptist in her faith and an avid Arkansas Razorback fan. Shannon was a cherished mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, who was dearly loved by all. She will truly be missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing and loving her.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James Don and Linnea Johns and Charles Christophe­r and Annie Johns, all of Hot Springs; her stepfather, Paul Pennington, of Glenwood; one sister, Cherie Simmons, of Owensboro, Ky.; two nephews, Steve Norton, Jr. of Owensboro, Ky. and Joshua Simmons of Shelton, Neb; two nieces, Nikki Caldwell and Bobi Jo Bledsoe, both of Hot Springs; several great-nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Pastor Brandon Westgate officiatin­g.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today.

Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s will be Pete Mitchell, Tim Mitchell, Tracy Thrash, Hunter Wallace, Greg Wallace and Daniel Padgett.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be Dr. Gregory Slagle, Dr. Lawrence Mendelsohn and Dr. Andrew Grose.
