Girls Circle is a gender-specific program for females ages 13-18, regardless of risk factor, designed to promote the developmen­t of courage, confidence, honesty, communicat­ion skills, and includes an evidence-based reproducti­ve health component. Studies have revealed statistica­lly significan­t improvemen­t for girls in the program: increases in self-efficacy, attachment to school, positive body image, and social support, and decreases in self-harming behavior, and alcohol use. The Council for Boys and Young Men is a gender-specific program for males ages

13-18 designed to meet the core developmen­tal need in boys for strong, positive relationsh­ips. It is a strengths-based approach to promote health developmen­t, addressing the physical, emotional and relational aspects of manhood. Studies have shown a significan­t increase in boys’ school adjustment and decreases in aggression rates, particular­ly in programs which are implemente­d in and or supported by schools. Active Parenting of Teens: Families in Action is an educationa­l and interactiv­e program that provides guidance and support to parents of tweens and teens, promoting communicat­ion/relationsh­ip building, nonviolent discipline and risk prevention. This program has been listed in SAMHSA’s National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices, and in OJJDP’s Model Programs Guide. Parenting of 5- to 12-yearolds is an educationa­l and interactiv­e program for parents of children ages 5-12. This program, listed on SAMHSA’s National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices, and in OJJDP’s Model Programs Guide, educates parents on brain developmen­t and behavior, improves discipline and communicat­ion, and can prevent future use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Open Minds is a recovery support group for youths with substance abuse issues, incorporat­ing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivation­al Interviewi­ng.
