AARP driver safety class at McAuley Senior Center

An AARP Smart Driver course will be sponsored by CHI St. Vincent McAuley Senior Center, 5010 Highway 7 north, at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 7. Qualified graduates are eligible for an auto insurance discount.

There is a $15 fee for AARP members and $20 fee for nonmembers to cover course materials. Bring your driver’s license and, if applicable, AARP membership card. Call 984-5594 to enroll. Haven United Methodist Thrift Store, 645 Park Ave., is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays.

Helping Hands of Bismarck, 6804 Highway 7, is a community emergency assistance organization for those in the Bismarck School District which operates a thrift store from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays. United Methodist Thrift Store, 304 Albert Pike, is open from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday and Saturday. The store stocks men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and accessories, household items, fabric and books, in good condition. Clean, usable donations of clothes, housewares and small furniture are appreciated. Proceeds are used to assist needy families in Garland County.

John & Sue Anthony Vintage Mall, 1679 Highway 7 north, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Stop Animal Cruelty Thrift Store, 123 Albert Pike, is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. All proceeds benefit the rescued pets in foster care. SAC is an all-volunteer organization striving to promote humane principles, prevent cruelty and alleviate fear, pain and suffering in animals. It investigates reports of cruelty and neglect in Hot Spring and Garland counties. Donations of kitchen items, home decor, clothing, shoes, bedding, linens, collectibles and furniture in good condition are appreciated. Donations of dog and cat food or pet supplies may be left at the store. All donations are tax deductible. Low-cost spay and neuter vouchers are available to the public. CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs’ Mercy Closet, 300 Werner St., is open from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Fridays.
