LH junior girls roll to 7-0 start

Lake Hamilton junior girls moved to 7-0 after routing Benton 45-16 Thursday at Wolf Arena.

The junior Lady Wolves took control early with a 13-2 first quarter lead that they stretched to 33-4 at the half. Both teams added

12 in the second half, Lake Hamilton taking a

40-12 lead after three.

Aspen Thornton paced the Lady Wolves with 16 points and six assists, Hayleigh Wyrick added 13 with four assists and six rebounds and Ginny Higginboth­am had eight with five rebounds and two assists.

Lake Hamilton travels to Cabot North

Monday.

FL-Clinton

CONWAY — Fountain Lake struggled to get shots to fall as it fell to Clinton 56-42 Thursday in the semi-finals of the St. Joseph Classic.

Clinton rolled to a 16-10 start in the opening quarter before stretching to a 30-20 halftime lead. Fountain Lake could not get its offense going again in the second half as Clinton moved to take a 45-30 lead going into the final period.

Isabelle Baker paced the Lady Cobras with 12, and Molly Breshears and Hannah Ross added eight each.

Fountain Lake (2-3) will host Jessievill­e

Tuesday.

Arkansas-Abilene Christian

Five Arkansas women were in double-digits as the Razorbacks took a 20-0 run in the fourth quarter to defeat Abilene Christian University in Bud Walton Arena Wednesday night.

Juniors Malica Monk and Raven Northcross-Baker paced Arkansas with 15 points each with sophomore Jailyn Mason adding 13, sophomore Kiara Williams 12 and graduate student Devin Cosper 11.

Mason had a season-best eight assists with seven rebounds for Arkansas while Williams picked up eight boards.

Arkansas (5-2) went on a 7-0 scoring run in the opening quarter, holding the Wildcats

(3-2) scoreless for over four minutes. Taking advantage of five ACU turnovers and forcing back-to-back shot clock violations, the Razorbacks held an 11-3 lead at the first media timeout.

ACU went on a 9-0 run before Arkansas answered with another 7-0 run to end the quarter with a 20-14 advantage.

Both teams dropped to half-court offense in the second frame, Williams putting up her

10th point on a layup early to for her first double-digits in the first half and her third double-digit game of the season. Despite another scoring drought by the Razorbacks, Arkansas carried a 34-24 lead into the break.

ACU opened the second half with a 7-0 run, but Arkansas got a trey from Northcross-Baker to spark a 12-0 run before carrying a 54-47 lead into the final frame.

The Wildcats sank the first shot in the fourth quarter, and Arkansas followed up with a 20-0 run to take as much as a 24-point lead in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Arkansas travels to Kansas Sunday as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Razorbacks face the Jayhawks at 2 p.m. with the team returning home for a three-game home stint, welcoming Charlotte on Dec. 7, Tulsa on Dec.

10 and UT-Arlington Dec. 17.
