W.J. Barrett

MOUNT IDA — W.J. “Dub” Barrett, age 87, of Mount Ida, Ark., passed away Nov. 29, 2017.

He was born Sept. 1, 1930, to Charles J. Barrett and Reevle Hicks Barrett in Mount Ida, Ark. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Reevle Barrett; first wife, Loretta Rose Barrett of 39 years; and one son, John L. “Butch” Barrett.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Barrett, of 22 years; daughters, Margo Barrett Hill and husband Larry, of Midland, Texas, Karen Barrett Montanez and husband Art, of Castle Rock, Colo.; one daughter-inlaw, Ruby Barrett, of Las Vegas, N.M.; grandchild­ren, Clinton L. Hill, of Midland, Texas, and Amanda J. Hill, of Midland, Texas; one great-grandson, Christian L. Hill, of Midland, Texas; and one sister, Charlene Pickens, of Mount Ida, Ark.

Walter was a loving husband, father and friend who loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature. He was a good man! “A man’s man.”

A visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida, Ark.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Dec. 2, 2017, at the Norman Baptist Church in Norman, Ark.

Pallbearer­s: Warren Black, Marshall Black, Riley Black, Rodney Standridge, Ervine Nichols and Les Harper.

Bryan Brancaccio

POINT CEDAR — Bryan Brancaccio, age 28, of Point Cedar, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017.

He was born on Jan. 9, 1989, in Boston, Mass. He was preceded in death by his grandparen­ts, Ray N. Short and Jerry Beth Short; and one cousin, Aaron Cook.

Bryan was the owner and operator of his own pizzeria, Brick City in Hot Springs. He loved serving people and was an avid sports fan. Bryan will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa Brancaccio, of Tahlequah, Okla.; his parents, Kelly and Alexis Short, of Point Cedar; the mother of his daughter, Diana Brancaccio, of Tahlequah, Okla.; his sister, Carson Alexibeth Short, of Point Cedar; his maternal grandparen­ts, Francis X. and Alexis M. Dearing, of Quincy, Mass.; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

A celebratio­n of Bryan’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs, with Chaplain Rich Heffington officiatin­g.

Louise Cummings

The memorial service for Louise Cummings, 83, of Hot Springs, who died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, will be 11 a.m. today at Hot Springs Funeral Home with Pastor John McCallum officiatin­g.

MALVERN — Bertha Loraine Hearn, 65, of Malvern, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017.

Nina E. Johnson

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Nina Eddleman Johnson, 77, of Hot Springs Village, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, in Hot Springs.

She was born Feb. 26, 1940, in Lee County, Ark., to Nell Mercer Eddleman and James Woodrow Eddleman.

Nina was a member of the Village Church of Christ, loved gardening, sewing and crafts of many kinds. She was a “full-time grandmothe­r” and loved her entire family with everything she had. She was known to be one of the most strong, brave and positive ladies around. Nina loved unconditio­nally and she never met a stranger. Her friendly and selfless personalit­y was something that drew people to her. She faced everything in life with courage and faith, and never let any circumstan­ce overcome her. Nina was a loving wife, mother and grandmothe­r, and her memory will be cherished by all the loved ones she leaves behind.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William A. “Bill” Johnson.

Nina is survived by her sons, Tony and spouse, Susan Vichick-Johnson, Timothy Brent Johnson and his spouse, Nathan Higginboth­am; her daughter, Julie Nell Jeznach; four grandchild­ren; three brothers, Kenneth Eddleman, Mike Eddleman, Steve Eddleman; and many other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Village Church of Christ with the Rev. David Tappe officiatin­g. Visitation will be an hour prior, beginning at 1:30 p.m. A private family interment will follow at CedarVale Cemetery.

Sandra O. Johnson

MALVERN — Sandra Olena Johnson, 74, of Malvern, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017.

Born Jan. 29, 1943, in Bonnerdale, Ark., the daughter of the late Willie Olen and Jessie Juanelle Massey Buck.

Survivors include son, Jesse Johnson (Robin); daughter, Nina Johnson (fiancé Merle Jett); brother, David “Davie” Richard Buck (Kathy); grandchild­ren, Casey Ivy (Jeff), Kevin Johnson, Keith Johnson (Adrianna), Samantha Jacobs (Dylan); great-grandchild­ren, Emma, Isaac, Ava and Rylan Johnson, Jessica and Ina Ivy.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, Regency Funeral Home.

Graveside service is 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, Dillard Homestead Cemetery, Old Amity Highway in Bonnerdale, with Brother Wesley Howard officiatin­g.

KENOSHA, Wis. — The service for Barbara Lander, 79, of Kenosha, Wis., formerly of Bismarck, who died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, will be 2 p.m. today in Bonnerdale Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Brandon Westgate officiatin­g.
