Jessieville rolls over Scranton
SCRANTON — Jessieville took an early lead and never let up as it rolled to a 75-53 over Scranton Saturday.
The Lions put up 25 points in the opening eight minutes of the consolation match, allowing the host team only 7 for an 18-point lead, but the Rockets outscored Jessieville in the second period to cut their deficit to 37-23 at the break.
Jessieville dominated the third frame, outscoring the Rockets by 15 for a 65-36 lead going into the final period, where they were outscored 17-10.
Alex Burleson paced the Lions with 29 points, Michael Vanglider and Tyler Holloway adding nine each and B.J. Holloway had eight.
“I was proud of the guys being ready to play,” said Jessieville head coach Jared White. “As coaches, we tried to emphasize the importance of creating their own excitement for this game because it’s a consolation game at 1 o’clock on a Saturday. One tends not to get up for that kind of game. These guys did a great job of being ready to play and really played well. We have two tough matchups this week with Fountain Lake on the road and a gritty Centerpoint team at home on Friday.”
Jessieville (4-3, 1-0 in 3A/4A-8) travels to Fountain Lake today.
Bismarck-Gurdon
GURDON — Bismarck’s senior boys took a 51-37 conference win over Gurdon Friday to move to 2-0 in conference action.
Holding a six-point lead going into the final period, Bismarck put up 21 and allowed 13 to put the Go-Devils away.
The Lions jumped to a 9-5 lead in the opening quarter, stretching their lead by one in the second to take a five-point buffer into the break. Bismarck outscored Gurdon 12-11 in the third frame before cruising in the final period for the win.
McMullin led the Lions with 16, Howell and Robertson added
10 points each, Clayton put up seven, Sawyer Hardage five and Josh Allsup three.
* Gurdon’s junior boys dominated Bismarck Friday as the junior Go-Devils rolled to a 49-33 win.
Bismarck trailed 10-8 at the end of the first period, and Gurdon stretched its lead to 26-20 at the break.
Both teams struggled in the third frame, putting up a combined
11 points, but Gurdon secured the win by outscoring the junior Lions
11-8 in the final period.
Dawson King paced the junior Lions with 12 points, Logan Bubulka added nine, Connor Corley had six and Blake Smith, Braven Golden and Brooks Depriest put up two each.
