Breakfast With Santa Saturday at Webb Center

The Housing Authority of the City of Hot Springs; the United Methodist Women of Oaklawn United Methodist Church; Retzer Resources, the local McDonald’s franchise, of Greenville, Miss.; and the Hot Springs Landlord Associatio­n have partnered together to provide gifts and breakfast to public housing residents with the annual Breakfast With Santa.

The event will be held at the Webb Center, 127 Pleasant St., from 9-11 a.m. Saturday. Santa Claus will be there with gifts.

HACHS parents with children between the ages of 2- and 12-years-old have been welcomed with a pre-registrati­on.

Christmas parade awards announced

Award winners from the annual Oaklawn Rotary Christmas Parade Tuesday night were announced on Wednesday at the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa.

Maxwell Blade, master illusionis­t of the Maxwell Blade Theatre of Magic, served as grand marshal of this year’s parade, which was themed “The Magic of Christmas.”

The awards were as follows:

• First place — Magic Springs Theme & Water Park, “Home for Christmas.”

• Second place — National Park College, “NPC Elves: Magic and Mischief.”

• Most Creative — Hot Springs Showmen’s Associatio­n, “The Magic of Christmas in the Smile of a Child.”

• Best Use of Theme — David Hafer, “A Magical Red, White and Blue Christmas.”

• Best Choreograp­hy — Texarkana Drill Team, “Magical Horses.”

• Best Special Effects — Ed Jones Salvage, Central Auto Sales, Diva Hair Salon, “Magical Winter Wonderland.”

• Best Creative, Non-Float — CJ Horner Co.

Happy Hollow water station to close Friday

Happy Hollow Cold Water Station on Fountain Street will be closed for maintenanc­e from 8 a.m. to noon Friday.

DeSoto Park restroom closes for winter season

The Parks & Trails Department will close the restroom at DeSoto Park, 1700 Park Avenue, for the winter season on Friday.

The restroom will reopen next spring.
