Lady Eagles win again on the road

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

MAUMELLE — Cutter Morning Star had three players on the senior girls’ basketball team in double figures on Tuesday as the Lady Eagles picked up a road win at Maumelle Charter.

Senior Madison Dixon led all scorers with 17 points. The Lady Eagles (5-4) led 19-7 after the first quarter.

“I challenged my girls to hold Maumelle scoreless the entire second quarter just trying to emphasize intensity and defense,” said Cutter Morning Star head coach Brittany Senn. “We held them scoreless until about 1:00 left before halftime, when they banked a three in. I was proud of that.”

A 30-10 halftime lead grew to 42-15 by the end of the third quarter. The game finished 5123.

“I am very proud of my girls’ effort,” Senn said. “They

have worked so hard for the four years I have been at Cutter. I have great parent support and great kids. It is all them.”

Junior Cherokee Fields and senior Loke Miller added 12 points and 10 points, respectively. Sophomores Kara Kinkaid and Grace Slick finished four points each.

Cutter Morning Star’s senior high teams will be on the road again Friday at Magnet Cove with the girls scheduled to tip at 5:30 p.m.

Junior high

Maumelle Charter took the junior high game by a score of 35-7. Selena Gasca scored five points for Cutter Morning Star and Lexi Bryan had two points.

“We have to work and focus on defense,” Senn said. “Until we get that right and give all of our effort on that end of the floor, nothing else matters. I have a young team and we will keep grinding until we get it fixed.”
