Educator to address NAACP today

Janice Davis, an educator and motivation­al speaker, will address the NAACP at 2 p.m. today at the Webb Center, 127 Pleasant St.

The Spa City native graduated with honors from Hot Springs High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in pathology and audiology from the University of Arkansas and master’s degree in special education from Henderson State University.

A licensed curriculum program administra­tor,

Davis spent more than 30 years working in the Hot

Springs School District and tutored students after school for various organizati­ons.

For the last 11 years, she has hosted A Thanks- giving to Share feast for families in need of food and or company during the holidays. She volunteers with Garland County Habitat for Humanity and Project HOPE.

Presentati­on slated on Randolph Scott

A lecture on the life of western movie actor Randolph Scott will be presented in the auditorium of Garland County Library at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Robert Freeman, who will narrate the visuals, has rare photos which display Scott’s entire life, from his teenage years through is Army service in France during World War I, then highlights his 30-year movie career portraying military and western heroes until his retirement in 1962.

Movie buffs and the general public are welcome.
