U.S. Air Force Airman John M. Bergen, the son of Mayra Carrera of Garden City, Kan., and Marc Bergen, of Malvern, and stepson of Wendy Bergen, of Malvern, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

He completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Those who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Bergen is a 2017 graduate of Poyen High

School.

Tillery, the son of Gordon and

Tracie Tillery, of Hot Springs, recently enlisted into the Arkansas Army National Guard as a cannon crew member.

Tillery attends Fountain Lake High School. He is now qualified for the National Guard

100 percent tuition waiver in addition to many other benefits. His demonstrat­ed devotion to his community, state and country are in keeping with the highest standards and traditions of the Citizen Soldier.

• U.S. Air Force Airman Corban J. Wheeler, the son of Jason L. Wheeler, of Mount Ida, and Alicia L. Wheeler, of Hot Springs, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Wheeler is a 2016 graduate of Mount Ida High School.
