BISMARCK — Bismarck High School students in the district’s Future Farmers of America chapter recently attended the 360° and Greenhand leadership conferences with FFA students across the state.

The 360° conference is an activity of the National FFA Organization made possible by title sponsor, Syngenta, and with additional support from Helena Chemical Co. The twoday conference is meant to take students full circle in terms of chapter leadership with focuses on the importance of influence and how to become an influential leader.

Students spent their time in sessions learning the importance of influence, conducting a chapter needs assessment, crafting an influence plan for their local FFA chapter and developing a strategy to make an influence.

The “Going Green” Greenhand Conference is a state leadership conference for first-year FFA Members and is presented by the Arkansas FFA state officers. Advisors John Crangle and Christina Hain escorted Bismarck FFA chapter members to the event Dec. 1-3.

Going Green consists of six sessions that focus on the opportunities offered by the FFA students in high school. Students worked to define agricultural education, learn about FFA opportunities, explore a supervised agricultural experience, find their fit within agriculture education and FFA, and develop “My Green Plan” for grades 10-12.

This school year, more than 825 students throughout the state participated in the conferences.
