A Hot Springs man was arrested on felony charges Wednesday night after Garland County sheriff’s deputies serving a warrant allegedly found meth and a handgun in his possession.

Justin Michael Jones, 38, who listed a Lobo Lane address, was taken into custody around 8 p.m. and charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, punishable by up to life in prison, and possession of meth with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 20 years.

He remained in custody Thursday on zero bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Wednesday, around 4 p.m ., Sgt. Josh Cannon and

Investigator Matthew Ellis went to a residence on Catherine Heights Road to serve a warrant on the homeowner. Upon arrival, they made contact with Jones who was standing in the front yard working on a truck.

The deputies reportedly saw a 9-mm handgun in plain sight beside the engine and El- lis noted Jones had an empty holster on his belt. A computer check revealed Jones had a warrant for failure to appear so he was taken into custody.

During a pat down search of Jones, they allegedly discovered a cigarette pack containing a clear plastic baggie in one pocket and another baggie in his other pocket, both containing a white crystal-like substance that later tested positive for meth, a total of 2.4 grams.
