Artists’ Workshop Gallery announces January featured artists
Thirty featured artists will be exhibited for January’s First Friday Gallery Walk at Artists’ Workshop Gallery for the gallery’s member’s show, a display of one work by every member of this energetic cooperative gallery. The exhibit will be displayed through the month of January.
This month’s featured artist theme is “And Now, Something Different.” Members were asked to do “something different,” that is, to shift away from the familiar and explore their own artistic and aesthetic boundaries. They were asked to venture far afield in subject matter, style or genre, materials, composition, coloration or any combination. This could even be a time for a little artistic madness or quirkiness.
Those familiar with these artists’ work might be surprised by this exhibit, a news release said.
Gary Weeter, award-winning water colorist, strays from his familiar subjects of barns and outdoor scenes to present a fiery geometric-abstract collage called “Eruption.” Michael Preble takes a step toward the absurd, moving from his colorful and digitally enhanced photographs of Hot Springs to present an unusual image taken at Juliet’s balcony in Verona, Italy. The whimsical and magical images in Daryl Wedwick’s watercolors gives way to a luminous Caribbean sunrise. And those familiar with Pati Trippel’s distinctive acrylic dyed-tissue collages will find a new expression using natural objects.
The featured miniature artists for January are AJ Ball and Jerry Matusky.
Artists’ Workshop Gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
