Jessieville, Lakeside down conference opponents at home

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

JESSIEVILLE — Jessieville had three players in double figures Tuesday night, leading the Lions to a

73-35 rout of the visiting Gurdon Go-Devils at Jessieville Sports Arena.

Senior Alex Burleson led all scorers with 24 points, including 22 in the first half, while junior Tyler Holloway added 17 points and senior Jacob Bearden scored

12 points.

The Lions set the tone for the rest of the game with a 25-4 run in the first quarter, later extending their lead to 51-15 at the half.

“We couldn’t play any better offensively in the first half,” Jessieville coach Jared White said. “Some of our keys were to be ready to play and get off to a quick start. We wanted to create some offense with our defense, and we did that as well. I think we went 6-12 from 3-point range in the first half and never looked back. I’m really proud of that effort.”

The Go-Devils showed signs of life with 18 points in the third quarter before Jessieville rode a 10-2 run in the fourth quarter to set the final margin.

Improving to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in conference, the Lions travel to Glen Rose tonight before hosting Malvern on Tuesday. Jessieville has won nine straight games since suffering three straight losses to Sheridan, Mountain Pine and Charleston.
