PEARCY — Racing to a 30-7 lead in the first half, the Lake Hamilton junior Lady Wolves made quick work of visiting Mount Saint Mary Thursday night.

Ginny Higginbotham scored a game-high 15 points, including three 3-pointers and a perfect four-for-four from the free throw line, as Lake Hamilton cruised to a 46-23 win at Lake Hamilton Wolf Arena.

Hayleigh Wyrick added 10 points and four steals for the junior Lady Wolves, while Aryn Hughes recorded eight points and five rebounds and Aspen Thornton finished with four points and five assists.

Lake Hamilton’s Annabelle Coppedge chipped in with four points, Breanna Nash scored three points and Grace Stewart scored two points.

“The Lady Wolves had a very good team effort on both ends of the floor, jumping out to an early lead just as we did in the Kamo’s Kids tournament wins,” Lake Hamilton coach Brandi Higginbotham said. “We will hopefully continue playing good basketball throughout conference play.”

Improving to 14-1 overall and 7-1 in conference, the junior Lady Wolves travel to Russellville Monday night before hosting Cabot South Thursday.

Boys

Chase Jessup knocked down two shots from the foul line with six seconds remaining to give Lake Hamilton’s junior boys a 36-35 win over visiting Little Rock Catholic in overtime Thursday night.

Trailing 17-16 at the half and tied at the end of three quarters, Lake Hamilton’s Gavin Robbins buried a 3-pointer as time expired in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.

“It was definitely not a pretty game,” Lake Hamilton coach Darren Cannon said. “Catholic outplayed us and outhustled us in the first 22 minutes of the game. We finally picked up the intensity the last two minutes, and we were really fortunate to come out with a win tonight.”

Robbins paced the Wolves with eight points, while Cade Robinson scored seven points and Austin Hale had six points.

Lake Hamilton (5-9, 3-5) travels to Russellville Monday night.
